We’re back and this time we’re dreaming about summer!

Mark your calendar for the Mamas Summer Countdown; a chance for families and local businesses to come together for a celebration of warm weather and all of the fun things that come along with it.

This is the event for you if:

  • you are looking for the perfect camp or summer situation for kids but don’t know where to start.
  • you are planning a family vacation.
  • you are starting to think about warm weather wardrobes and supplies.
  • you want to spend a fun day with your family.

StarlabSTARLAB, the Indoor Planetarium at Sands Point Preserve

The Starlab is returning to Sands Point for four daytime sessions 11:00, 11:45, 12:45, and 1:30.

This inflatable planetarium is recommended for children who are older than four years of age.

–As with all of the Sands Point programs, children must be accompanied by an adult.


  • When: Sunday, February 8th — 11:00am, 11:45am, 12:45pm, and 1:30pm

 What special features does an animal have that enables it to search for food without the light of day,  in the dark?  Where do nocturnal animal spend the daylight hours?

This live animal show will feature nocturnal critters staying up past their bedtimes to show off why the night time is their time!

–Offers Family Yoga at the Phil Dejana Learning Center on Sunday, January 11th from 11:00 – 11:45am.

Bring your family and friends to experience the wonderful benefits of yoga that include stretching, strength building, and relaxation — Don’t forget to bring a mat and water bottle AND to wear comfortable clothing.

Take the kids to see The Muppets Take Manhattan at Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington on Sunday, 12/28 @12p.

–The movie is FREE for kids 12 &  under, $6 for members, and $11 for the public.



Holiday Tales at the Hearth
Sunday, December 7th
12:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Join the holiday cheer at Hempstead House – with carolers, children’s crafts, and a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Special guest readers share favorite stories beside the roaring fireplace in the library – while traditional music of the season plays in the background.

Children should bring their holiday wish lists and letters for Santa – and deliver them in person. Hear the wonderful Wurlitzer Opus 442 Theatre Organ play. Festive refreshments will be provided.

Long Islanders are asked to donate frozen turkeys, non-perishable food items or cash donations. These donations will go directly to Island Harvest which will then help supply Thanksgiving holiday meals to the more than 300,000 hungry Long Islanders through its distribution to 570 food pantries and agencies on Long Island.
