… just SOME of the great events going on around Long Island this weekend!


WESTBURY, HUNTINGTON, JERICHO, COMMACK, & CENTRAL ISLIP: HOME DEPOT kids workshop (9am – 12pm). Come on down and get hands on!  Great for children ages 5-12, all kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin. First-come, first-serve. Please register online.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE: Brunch with Santa at Parlay Gastropub, located at 210 Merrick Road (11am-3pm). Experience all the wonder and joy that a breakfast with Santa brings. A special Saturday Brunch with Santa and receive a complimentary picture with Santa!

EAST NORTHPORT: Pancake Breakfast with Santa at Magic Circle Nursery School, located at 1018 Pulaski Road, East Northport (8:30am). Come on down and enjoy breakfast with Santa, featuring food and vendors, and a photo opportunity with Santa. Bring a camera! Admission: $6, $3 for children.

LAKE GROVEKIDGITS Holiday Breakfast at Smithhaven Mall, located at 313 Smith Haven Mall
Lake Grove, (8:30am – 10am). Celebrate the season and spread holiday cheer at the Kidgits annual holiday celebration. Kids can get festive with various crafts and activities including making their own ornament, writing a letter to Santa and decorating a gift box to celebrate The Boxtrolls, available this Holiday Season. Registration is required, call 631.724.8066.

SMITHTOWN: Heritage Country Christmas at Smithtown Historical Society, located at 239 Middle Country Road, Smithtown (3-7pm). Come on down and listen to live bluegrass, brass and traditional Colonial music while visiting the Judge J. Lawrence Smith Homestead, Epenetus Smith Tavern and Frank Brush Barn. Entertainment includes a hay ride (weather permitting), traditional shadow puppet show, Lionel trains in motion and Victorian craft making. Santa makes an appearance from 4 to 6 p.m. and families can gather by a bonfire for some caroling with Civil War soldiers. Admission: $5, $3 children.

Also in SMITHTOWN: Santa Claus Pictures to Support Suffolk County SPCA, located at 725 Veterans Memorial Highway, Building 16, Smithtown (11a-3pm). Have your children or pet take a photo with Santa Claus! By taking photos you will be supporting the Suffolk County S.P.C.A.

ISLIP: Children’s Christmas Party at American Legion Hall, located at 39 Nassau Avenue, Islip (11am).  Enjoy an afternoon with Santa, Mrs. Claus, the elves, Frosty and more. Party will include games, craft booths, face painting, card decorating, ice cream and more, reserve and bring a camera. $10 for children and adults.

SHELTER ISLAND: Tree Lighting and Craft Fair at Shelter Island Library, located at 37 N. Ferry Rd., Shelter Island (10am – 2:30pm).

SUNDAY, 12/7

SANDS POINT: Holiday Tales at the Hearth at The Guggenheim Estate, located at 127 Middle Neck Road, Sands Point (12-3pm). Join the holiday cheer at Hempstead House – with carolers, children’s crafts, and a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Special guest readers share favorite stories beside the roaring fireplace in the library – while traditional music of the season plays in the background. Children should bring their holiday wish lists and letters for Santa – and deliver them in person.  Festive refreshments will be provided.

BOHEMIA: Bohemia Christmas Parade at Bohemia Rec. Center (5pm). Boy & Girl Scouts, civic groups, horses and floats by neighboring fire departments and ambulance companies will be on display, lit in holiday decorations and a special appearance by Santa Claus to wrap up the parade.


LONG BEACH: Winter Wonderfest at Long Beach Ice Arena, located at 150 W. Bay Drive Long Beach (10am-6pm). The first ever Winter Wonderfest, featuring rides and activities, ranging from a carousel and ferris wheel to bowling and various holiday-themed vendors. 

NORTHPORT:  Frosty the Snowman at John W. Engeman Theater, located at 250 Main Street, Northport (11:00 & 10:30am). Enjoy this children’s production in which a snowman is magically brought to life when a group of children place a top hat on his head. Tickets are $15.

PATCHOGUE: A Winnie-the-Pooh Christmas Musical at Clare Rose Playhouse, located at St. Joseph’s College, 155 West Roe Boulevard, Patchogue(1 & 3pm). Enjoy the children’s theater work based on the adventures of the fictional anthropomorphic bear created by A. A. Milne. Tickets are $8.
