Freezing for a Reason

polarplungeThe time of year is coming up that many across the country will be freezing for a reason with Polar Plunges!

Local Polar Plunges run from November to April across Long Island with multiple locations. So, what exactly is a Polar Plunge? This chilly event was organized to help raise money for different organizations. Individuals are asked to receive pledges from others to then jump or run into the cold winter waters of Long Island.

NOVEMBER

  • Saturday, November 22nd: Town of Brookhaven Polar Plunge at Cedar Beach in Mount Sinai at 12pm — No fee, but donations accepted.  All money raised will go to the athletes of the Special Olympics
  • Saturday, November 29th: Shelter Island Turkey Plunge at Crescent Beach in Shelter Island at 11am —Minimum of a $25 donation.  All money raised will go to the Shelter Island Public Library

DECEMBER

  • Saturday, December 13th: Southampton Polar Plunge at Coopers Beach, Southampton at 10am. -Minimum of a $25 donation. All money raised will go to the Human Resources food pantry.
