Breaking news for the world of kid’s camps! Cara Castronuova, star fitness trainer of Season 11 of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” announced the opening of her kid’s overnight weight loss and fitness camp coming this Summer of 2014.

At Camp Kid Warrior the focus will not be just weight loss. The mission is to instill in kids a true love of fitness mixed with good times. Camp Kid Warrior is a camp to teach kids about healthy weight loss, overall fitness, and health awareness – but the camp’s ultimate goal is to INSPIRE children and to EMPOWER them with the spirit and desire to be strong not only physically, but mentally as well.

Camp days will be half fitness, half recreational. Fitness components will include a wide assortment of workouts that include classics like jogging, hiking, boxing, dancing, kickboxing, Zumba, mixed martial arts, spin, Yoga, circuit training, weight training, and boot camp style workouts that are fun, inspiring and invigorating. Sports like “European” soccer, basketball, rugby, baseball and softball will also be available to children.

Cara on “The Biggest Loser” helped contestants lose half their body weight on national television – some lost well over 200 pounds each. But according to Cara the approach at Camp Kid Warrior will be very different, but just as effective.

“Kids don’t need that pressure of the scale and to be perfect,” Cara said. “My camp will have a nurturing and encouraging atmosphere where kids will be granted the gift of a positive affiliation with a healthy lifestyle. I will be personally there to make sure that happens for every single child. Their summer will be absolutely magical, I guarantee it!”

Kids will enjoy traditional camp activities such as swimming, boating, arts and crafts, color wars and archery. There will also be “special and memorable” activities such as frog catching, broadcast journalism, “stargazing” astronomy deck night, “warrior chess” and “Gaga” – a form of dodge ball originating in Israel. Teams and “houses” will be formed to enhance teamwork and a sense of belonging in campers.

Castronuova said the camp’s highly qualified staff will be taught to apply all the tools and techniques she learned on “The Biggest Loser” minus one thing.

“No weigh-ins!” said Castronuova. “No child needs that pressure. The important thing is balancing health, fun and developing a warrior mentality. No scales allowed at Camp Kid Warrior!”

Castronuova will personally manage the camp and participate throughout the five-week program, as well as bring on a colorful cast of celebrity guest trainers. Every child will be provided with personal attention and motivation – authentic “Biggest Loser” style.

“I obtained tremendous knowledge from my season on “The Biggest Loser,” said Castronuova. “I mastered the art of motivation and discovered proven secrets of long lasting weight loss. Working with the best trainers in the world I learned so much that can benefit kids and help them love fitness and healthy eating.”

Castronuova also had the opportunity to learn from star Dr. Rob Huizenga, “The Biggest Loser” in-house physician and one of America’s top doctors and a specialist in childhood obesity.

“Cara is a great motivator and has knowledge few trainers in America have been exposed to. I have full confidence her camp will help children achieve their goals,” said Dr. Huizenga.

The summer camp program will be held in Putnam County, about an hour and a half drive out of Manhattan. Camp Kid Warrior will be leasing the beautiful natural property of Camp Herrlich, which boasts lovely natural resources such as a lake with a footbridge to fish from, acres of hiking trails, nature and skies full of “wishing” stars.

“Wish hard, play hard, work harder,” said Cara. “That is the motto of Camp Kid Warrior!”
