Spring Things To Do With Kids on Long Island

The weather is warmer, birds are chirping, and the kids are itching to get outside.  We’re listed fun ideas for spring things to do with kids on Long Island to enjoy this season.

 

 

BIKE PATHS
A family bike ride is a perfect and active way to spend a nice spring day.  Here are highlights of some of the many bike trails that are perfect for families on Long Island.

Bethpage State Park- Massapequa Preserve Bike Path
This trail is around 8 miles long and is a very smooth ride with minimal elevations. This is a great ride for the kids.

Eisenhower Park
Einsenhower Park has several biking trails that are flat, safe and an easy ride for kids. There are also tennis and basketball courts, a mini golf course and restaurants.

Jones Beach
Jones Beach has a very family friendly bike trail. The trail is easy and flat. It is very safe and away from traffic. While there, be sure to take advantage of all of the beach amenities.  Biking is only allowed thru April 30.

Benners Farm

NATURE CENTERS
Hoyt Farm
The Hoyt Farm Nature Center is an exciting and educational place. It has many live animals including snakes, frogs, salamanders, turtles and fish. Educational displays describe life on Long Island from the beaches to the trees. Don’t miss the Native American artifact collection. The nature center is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day from 1-4 pm daily. While there, take a short walk up to the restored Hoyt Playhouse (behind the nature center) and see where the Hoyt children played in during the 1920’s.  Hoyt Farm also features one of the most amazing playgrounds, complete with a sprinkler park.  Be sure to pack a bathing suit, towel and a lunch as this is a place to spend an entire day.
