Looking for a one stop place for complete family awareness? Dreamnastics Kids Center is a colorful, sensory rich facility located in Great Neck that offers classes for children 4 months to 5 years. Each class is tailored to stimulate children through movement and interaction. Long Island Mamas visited Dreamnastics to experience first hand what the center has to offer.
During my visit I had a chance to speak with Dr. Adam Glassman, co-founder of Dreamnastics and owner and chiropractor at D.R.E.A.M. Wellness. Dr. Glassman has a special certification to work with pediatric and pregnant patients. He helps families reach their full potential through chiropractic care.
I am a mother of four children age 5 and under, and I took my youngest daughter, 15 months, to the Curious Comets class. The Curious Comets class is a 55 minute class for 12-18 month old children. The class started with the instructor greeting everyone with a puppet and singing songs. All of the children were engaged and enthusiastic. We sang and encouraged our children while “pushing a log” and going through an obstacle course. Laughter and smiles filled this magical room while our children climbed and balanced their way through tunnels, on mats and down slides to a sensory ball pit. We even jumped on a trampoline!
Instructor Ms. Rita gently guided our tots’ exploration while showing the mamas the correct way to help them off and on different gymnastic equipment. Every child also had a turn on a zipline swing that moved across the room. As we took turns, the other children socialized with one another while playing with colorful objects such as interlocking blocks and cones. A parachute with vibrant primary colors was brought out, and we participated moving it up and down while our little ones explored under and top of it. The class ended with the puppet saying goodbye to each child and Ms. Rita blowing bubbles. During the class every mother/caretaker and child were fully engaged with each other, and there were smiles and laughter throughout the 55 minute class.
Printed on the wall in the room are the words “Play with a Purpose.” Dreamnastics classes help children strengthen and build life skills such as:
- Fine motor skills
- Gross motor skills
- Problem solving skills
- Socialization/Social skills
During their time in class, kids have fun playing and bonding with their parents. My only question after the class was, “When can I sign my daughter up?”
Dreamnastics is also a unique place for a child’s birthday party. It also offers “open gym” which is great if it is too cold, hot, raining, snowing or parents just want a fun and safe room for their kids to play in. Open gym is available when there is no class taking place. Please visit the schedule page on the Dreamnastics website for hours, and call ahead to confirm availability.
