December is full of holidays and cheer. There are tons of holiday-themed activities for families throughout the entire month of December on Long Island including Santa Breakfasts, Gingerbread Decorating and more. Bring the kids out to one of these local activities to start the celebration now!

 

 

Santa Breakfasts

Saturday December 8th
Come enjoy bagels, donuts, cereal, fruit, juice, coffee and tea. Admission includes the “Winter Wonderland Hallway” Games. Visitors can purchase personalized hats and stockings, raffle tickets, Miller Place apparel, crafts, poinsettias and wreaths.

Sunday December 9th
Breakfast is a buffet breakfast complete with eggs, bacon, sausage, bagels, fresh fruit, juice, coffee and tea. Visitors can receive a free family photo with Santa and a gift for each child. Please bring along a non-perishable food donation for the local food pantry. Reservations are required. Required: fill out the form found here and bring it into the center. They will not take reservations/payment over the phone.

Enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast in the waterfront Sea Star Ballroom in the Long Island Aquarium and Exhibition Center in Riverhead. Bring a camera to for a photo with Santa! Reservations are required. Don’t forget to ask about the Santa Sleepover at the adjacent Hyatt Place East End & Resort Marina!

Gingerbread Decorating

Wednesday, December 12
Come visit Longwood Estates for a gingerbread house craft ideal for ages 2 and up.  Please register for the event by calling the phone number below.

5 Days a Week Through the Holidays
Gingerbread House or Gingerbread Family Decoration is a fun way to spend time with friends or family, and Sweets of the Spoon supplies everything (including the clean up). Participants get a gingerbread house assembled and ready to decorate, candy and icing “glue.” Sweets of the Spoon will then wrap it up for customers to bring home or to give to a friend.
When:
Tuesday, Thursdays and Sundays at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Fridays and Saturday sessions are at 2:00 pm, 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm

Lights, Lights and More Lights!

Girl Scouts Of Suffolk County Holiday Light Show
The Holiday Light Show, Long Island’s largest and brightest, is back for its ninth consecutive year. It brings all the magic with even more fun and surprises! Drive through a mile-long wooded trail filled with dazzling light displays and holiday vignettes.
When: Thursday, November 29 through Sunday, December 30 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM (Closed Dec 24th and 25th)

Newsday Holiday Lights Festival
The Newsday Holiday Lights Festival is back again this year and it is better than before. Newsday has added 58 additional light displays almost doubling the displays they had before. At the festival, visitors will see traditional light displays of Santa, Christmas trees, a Hanukkah Menorah and a Kwanzaa Kinara, among others. There are also fun light displays such as penguins skating, Santa playing baseball, and a dinosaur eating a Christmas tree.
When:
Fridays through Sundays, 6 pm to 10 pm, from now until December 30
