Review: Baby Loves Disco

MC and kids at the Baby Loves Disco party

After years of begging and pleading by Long Island Moms, Baby Loves Disco finally made it to Long Island last weekend and it was definitely worth the wait. BLD, as it is affectionately known, took over the atrium at Broadway Mall in Hicksville this past Saturday, and they had all the kids up and dancing.

The Long Island Mamas had a table at the event and got to meet a lot of our wonderful readers as well as new ones. We gave away a family 4-pack of Disney on Ice tickets to our winner Kara Gallagher from Seaford, NY.

The BLD crew was there for three hours and some kids danced the entire time. A lot of parents were just standing around watching their kids dance, but BLD had a few tricks up their sleeves to get the parents involved. They held a few family dance contests which required both parents and kids to dance in order to win a variety of prizes, including a $200 shopping spree at H&M.

BLD started in Philadelphia in 2005 and shortly thereafter moved to New York City. They now tour coast to coast, mainly taking over nightclubs during the day and throwing awesome parties for kids featuring music from the 70s, 80s and 90s. They come armed with a bubble machine, shakers, scarves, a couple of MCs and more.

Hopefully BLD will make their way back to Long Island soon, but until then, they throw parties about once a month in Manhattan at Le Poisson Rouge located at 155 Bleecker Street. The cost is $20 per person or $60 for a family of four.
