Drive by Two Blondes & A Stove in the heart of Huntington Village and its sidewalk seating area is consistently filled with patrons enjoying their meals. Under the vision of owner Dena Fenza, it’s no surprise that this gourmet breakfast and lunch restaurant stays busy.
Fenza opened Two Blondes & A Stove a couple months ago across from the post office on Gerard Street and Clinton Avenue. The Huntington mom of three learned how to cook from an early age by watching the pros in her large Italian family. She came from a long line of restaurateurs and gained experience working at several local eating establishments. Prior to opening her restaurant, she owned Two Blondes Catering, a company she had launched with a friend (who was blonde like Fenza, thus the inspiration for the name). For her current restaurant, Fenza is the sole owner.
The business is a family affair with her father, mother, sister and even her kids helping out. The restaurant serves food inspired by family recipes as well as new dishes created by Chef Michael Hansen.
The menu includes innovative dishes with fun celebrity names such as The Zsa Zsa Omelet, Lady Diana Lettuce Wraps, Shakira Tacos and more. Two Blondes & A Stove uses unique ingredients to add a gourmet touch to items such as the Italian Pancakes which are served with a strawberry-lemon marmalade and Mascarpone cream. One of the most popular menu items is Blondie’s Tuna Burger, featuring fresh ground tuna encrusted with panko served with a wasabi aioli topped with arugula and red onions on a toasted Brioche roll.
The family-friendly establishment offers a children’s menu with options such as Goldilocks Pancakes, Tutti Frutti French Toast, The Princess Aurora Quesadilla and several others.
“All dishes are homemade and prepared fresh,” notes Fenza.
Christina Kansler, a Huntington mother of two and repeat customer, states, “When we come here we receive attentive service, and the food is very fresh. I like the creative menu and plentiful portions. No one is doing what they’re doing. Its gourmet food you can’t find anywhere else in Huntington. The outdoor seating is also nice on a sunny day and perfect for bringing the kids along.”
Fenza has plans to expand into dinner serving small plates/tapas and desserts. In addition to cooking up delicious dishes, Two Blondes & A Stove offers cooking classes on Monday nights. For parents seeking a birthday party venue, the restaurant can accommodate these celebrations on certain days. Call the establishment for details.
One fun side note about Two Blondes & A Stove is that it recently garnered the attention of ABC television who choose the restaurant to film footage for its prime time program, “What Would You Do?” with John Quinones. The expected on-air date is in October.
