It won’t surprise anyone that Long Island boasts many restaurants with great views of the water on both the North and South Shores. Not all restaurants are equal though when it comes to accommodating families, so we’ve put together a list of family friendly restaurants with water views on Long Island. Bostwick’s Chowder House
Bostwick’s is a casual restaurant located on the water in East Hampton. Although it is casual, Bostwick’s serves up food that one would expect to find in a more formal restaurant. Bostwick’s serves its signature chowder as well as whatever fresh fish is caught locally that day. The restaurant also features a raw bar for more adventurous patrons. Kids can order off the Guppy menu which features typical kids fare such as chicken fingers, pasta and hot dogs. Kids will also love the Root Beer Float found on the dessert menu.

B. Smith’s Long Wharf Sag Harbor
B. Smith’s in Sag Harbor is the perfect place to stop for a bit of lunch after a morning of shopping. B. Smith’s boasts a magnificent deck in the back that looks over the wharf. Kids will love seeing all the docked boats. B. Smith’s features mainly seafood and southern cuisine in its Sag Harbor location. The kids menu serves typical kids fare, with one exception — shrimp tempura. This restaurant would be a great choice for kids who are mini gourmands.

Crabby Amy’s Clam & Oyster Bar
Crabby Amy’s has a great location right by Treasure Island Marina in Seaford. It is accessible by both car and boat. The restaurant serves mainly family friendly fare such as sandwiches and wraps, but they also offer more upscale fare like steamed lobster and a lobster and clam bake. Tuesday nights during the summer is family night. Starting at 6:30 pm, the restaurant offers face painting, games, crafts and stories.

Rick’s Crabby Cowboy Cafe
Get to Rick’s by land, sea or air. Rick’s is located on Montauk Lake across from the Montauk airport and right next to the Gone Fishing Marina. Not only is Rick’s easy to get to, but it also has a plethora of great seafood options to choose from. The menu mainly focuses on seafood, but there is also a good though smaller list of barbeque items for those who don’t like seafood. As a special treat for little and big kids alike, Rick’s offers s’mores every evening.

The Shipwreck Tavern in Bayville is a great restaurant for families. Inside the restaurant one will find remains of shipping cargo and giant fish tanks as well as a parrot named “Davey Jones.” Shipwreck Tavern also features an outdoor deck and cafe called the Tiki Bar. The restaurant mainly serves American fare and has a separate kids menu.

The Schooner Inn
The Schooner Inn has transformed “Happy Hour” from an adults-only time into family time. Monday through Saturday from 5-7 pm, the Schooner Inn features Family Happy Hour. There are giveaways and prizes, and families can play bingo to win a bike. On Wednesdays there are hermit crab races, and live music plays everyday. The restaurant features a lot of seafood, but there are also many options for landlubbers.
