A local research project is looking for children with asthma. All study-related visits, procedures and medications will be provided at no cost. A small compensation will be provided to participants for their time and travel.
What is the study about?
The purpose of the study is to find out how Singulair, an asthma medicine, manages asthma in overweight, obese children and teens.
Who can participate?
All children and teens ages 7-17 taking a daily asthma controller medicine are eligible. Children and teens that are taking Singulair and have other cardiopulmonary issues, and/or are on allergen immunotherapy and/or are pregnant will not be eligible to participate in the study.
When and where will the study take place?
The study will take place over seven months and includes five visits, three blood, three urine tests, and three phone calls. All in-person visits will be with Dr. Sherry Farzan at the North Shore-LIJ Division of Allergy and Immunology 865 Northern Blvd, Great Neck, NY.
