Family Friendly Fishing Spots on Long Island

As summer comes to an end, families are looking to spend some last minute time together before heading back to the daily grind of school and extracurricular activities. A family friendly fishing outing could be just the thing to do to for a fun day. Kids love feeling like they are fully involved, and parents can foster that by letting them bait their own hook, cast their own line and take the fish off the hook or lure. Parents can also make it a learning experience for children by identifying different species of fish as well as nearby birds, plants, flowers and other wildlife.

For equipment and bait, families have their choice of local bait and tackle shops. Adults and children over the age of 16 will also need to obtain a fishing license prior to enjoying their day. Once ready, families are set for a day of fun.
