Things to do on Long Island this Weekend with Kids 6/23-6/24

What a special weekend, it’s the first weekend of summer after school is all wrapped up. Many a graduation party will be had and beach excursions planned. In between all of these activities, there’s still so much for families to do. We’ve rounded up some fun things to do on Long Island this weekend with kids from watching a “Mid Summer Night’s Dream” to making waffles at a children’s museum. Happy Summer!

 

BethpageCountry Farms in Bethpage State Park “Polo at the Park”
Watch this traditional gentleman’s sport, just in time to kick off the summer. Polo matches and food available. The kids will love watching the horses!

Children can construct works of art using thousands of Legos (donations of gently used Lego accepted).

Freeport (Freeport Harbor) - Captain Lou’s Fleet Harbor Seal Cruise”
Families can take a naturalist-guided tour to learn about the behaviors of Harbor seals as well as other marine life in Hempstead Bay. Sponsored by the Riverhead Foundation.
When: Saturday, 6/23 and Sunday 6/24, both days from 12:00 PM-3:00 PM with boarding at 12:30 PM. Reservations required.

Come play with Play-doh, paint, and slime. Have fun creating a masterpiece at this wonderful children’s museum.

Garden City – Long Island Children’s Museum, “A Taste Of Tortilla”
Celebrate LICM Aquarium and Zoo Month by learning about the activities and eating habits of wild animals. Children will learn how diet and exercise affect overall health (ever see an overweight lion?). Children will create animals out of a tortilla.
