For the 47th year, the Huntington Arts Council is holding its Huntington Summer Arts Festival in Heckscher Park. Running from June 22 through August 11, the festival brings local, national, and international musicians to the community for free. The summer-long festival includes many shows for children to enjoy. One feature scheduled for July 3rd is Monkey Monkey Music with Meredith LeVande, a musical act that has been featured on PBS and local stations NJTV and NYC-TV.
At the Huntington show, fans new and old can see Meredith LeVande up close on the Chapin Rainbow Stage. Children can jump together, move and sing along to Monkey Monkey Music while counting odd numbers, playing “air guitar,” grooving with fruits and vegetables “In the Garden,” popping bubbles, and doing the Macaroni Dance.
Educator/Songwriter Meredith LeVande launched Monkey Monkey Music in 2001 to create music that engages the whole child by supporting children’s natural curiosity and desire to learn. The musician holds several degrees (Music, Law, Women’s Studies, English) that she draws from to infuse into her live performances, recordings, and music videos.
