GOT CANDY in North Babylon Makes Life a Little Bit Sweeter

After watching the movie “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”, almost every kid had dreams of owning a “chocolate waterfall” or an “ever-lasting Gobstopper.” For one local resident the dream has become her reality. Jennifer Groh, a 42-year-old mom, recently opened the new candy store GOT CANDY in North Babylon. She hopes to make life a little bit sweeter for kids of all ages.

The store’s bright colors and sweet smell is a draw for anyone looking to crave a sweet tooth.  A lollipop garden greets visitors upon arrival filled with lollipops in all shapes, sizes, colors, and characters. There’s even a tribute to the Willy Wonka movie, complete with scratch and sniff fruity wallpaper, a “golden ticket,” and all of the Wonka candy one can hope for.

GOT CANDY offers a broad selection of old school treats ranging from Bazooka gum to Sweet Tarts, Dum Dum lollipops, Mary Jane’s and everything in between.  There’s a variety of new and unique items such as Angry Birds candy and the Cricket in which an edible cricket is encased inside of a lollipop.  Finish the Cricket while in the store and make the Wall of Fame — think Fear Factor challenge meets candy store atmosphere!

Groh says it’s her goal to bring back the candy stores of years past, where a kid can come in with just one dollar and actually be able buy something. Good thinking for a store located across from Marion G. Vedder Elementary School and up the road from both the North Babylon Middle and High Schools.

The store carries a wide variety of items to appease any patron such as pixie sticks, Nerds, Sour Patch Kids, good old fashion chocolate, and to just about anything “gummy” (including the OPEN/CLOSED signs for the store which are made of gummy candy too!).

Groh also talks about adding more to the store including a room for birthday parties and a cupcake making section.

So be sure to visit GOT CANDY which is sure to satisfy the Willy Wonka in all of us!
