Guide to Spray Parks on Long Island

Families are always looking for ways to have fun and stay cool during the hot summer days.  We have compiled a guide to spray parks on Long Island that feature spray pools and sprinkler areas along with other amenities for families with children. Please note that some listings include residency requirements.

 

 

NASSAU COUNTY

 

East RockawayBay Park
This expansive park has a lot to offer including basketball courts, a multi-sport field that can accommodate soccer, football, and lacrosse. The large playground has a spray pool that children will enjoy in the summer heat.
How Much:
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, non-Nassau county residents will be charged a $10 parking fee on weekends. Some amenities, such as the tennis courts, will require residents to have a Leisure Pass to enjoy.

Great NeckJonathan Ielpi Firefighter Park
This quaint park has a playground for older children as well as an enclosed area for younger children and toddlers.  There are picnic tables, restrooms, and a spray park for children to play in. On Tuesday evenings in the summer there are live performances for families to relax and enjoy.
How Much:
Must be a Great Neck park district resident and have a valid Great Neck Park Card to use the park. Free card for those who qualify.

Hewlett Grant Park
From toddlers to tweens, children will enjoy themselves on one of the three playground areas specifically designed with age appropriate activities. After playing they can cool off in the spray-pool area. Other activities for families to enjoy include basketball and tennis as well as paths for walking, biking or jogging.
How Much:

North Woodmere - North Woodmere Park
With tennis courts, a football field, a baseball field and more, families can enjoy having fun together. When parents need a break, but the kids are still going, they can have fun on the modern and fun playground with age appropriate play sets for various age groups or splash around in the spray pool area.

SUFFOLK COUNTY

CopiagueTanner Park
With amenities such as fishing piers, athletic fields, a skate park, and a great playground, visitors can enjoy an interactive spray park during the summer month’s hot weather.  There are restrooms and food services available as well.
How Much:
Residents of the Town of Babylon can obtain a Recreation Permit for access not only to Tanner Park, but to numerous other beaches and facilities. Non-Residents are also welcomed at Tanner Park for a $15 fee Monday–Thursday and a $25 fee Friday–Sunday and Holidays.

Lindenhurst - Venetian Shores Park
Families can enjoy their entire day here and never get bored. With plenty of activities and amenities, there is something for everyone. Fishing, swimming in the Great South Bay, playing on the playground, eating in the picnic areas, and playing in the spray-ground are just a few of the many options. Children, as well as adults, can cool off in the spray-ground with water from cannons, an octopus or a spraying whale.

How Much:
The Town of Babylon states this is a Resident Only Beach, and to enjoy the facilities, visitors must have a Resident Recreation Permit for entrance.

Bay ShoreBay Shore Marina
Overlooking the Great South Bay, Shipwreck Cove Spray Park will open in June and is bound to be a fun filled adventure for children of all ages. It is a zero depth entry pool so even the littlest visitors can splash and play. Giant overhead buckets will periodically douse guests with enough water to knock over some in a fun filled way. A small beach, dock area for Town of Islip boaters and a restaurant are other amenities for families to enjoy.
How Much:
Town of Islip residents with a Pool Membership are allowed to enjoy the fun of Shipwreck Cove for Free.  For residents that have a Recreation Card there is a $5 per person fee.  Please check with the Marina for most recent prices as they may change. This is in addition to any parking fees the Town of Islip may enforce.
