Zumba for Kids

Zumba, the latest craze in fitness, is now available for children. Children’s lifestyles are increasingly sedentary, but the benefits to exercise (especially the kind Zumba provides) are boundless. Zumbatomic is the name for classes that are geared specifically towards kids. These classes provide a fun way to keep little ones, tweens, or teens active and in shape.

Health benefits top the list of benefits, but they’re not the only perk. Supervised, positive activities can help keep kids motivated out of trouble by providing them with structured programs. It’s a place to meet new friends who share their love of dance and for them to have a physical outlet to release the pressures of childhood and adolescence.

Featured Business: Tropix Dance Studio

Tropix Dance Studio in Lynbrook offers a variety of fun Zumbatomic classes for kids in Long Island. The students are fortunate to be taught by the energetic and talented “Miss Suney.” She leads them through challenging, but fun routines and kids respond by cheerfully jumping, sliding, and moving along with her.

“Designed exclusively for kids, Zumbatomic classes are high-energy fitness parties packed with specially choreographed, kid-friendly routines,” says Tropix Dance Studio proprietor and Zumbatomic instructor, Suneydis Martinez. She continues that the kids love all the music “…like hip-hop, Reggaeton, Cumbia, and more. Parents love Zumbatomic because of the effects it has on kids — increasing their focus and self-confidence, boosting metabolism, and enhancing coordination,”

Other classes offered at Tropix Dance Studio include Belly dancing (Thursdays, 6 pm, ages 6-12), Ballet/Tap (Saturdays, 11:30 am, ages 3-6), and Teens Hip-Hop (starting late April, Tuesdays, 5:30pm). Families can register via email or on site before class. Registration is ongoing, and interested families can sign up immediately.
