Future Stars Camp
Future Stars Camp is held in both Farmingdale and Southampton. It is a sports camp that focuses on improving the skills of child athletes during the summer. There are camps offered in all of the main school sports, as well as some additional sports such as squash, field hockey and cheerleading. A multi-sport camp, where children can get a basic sports foundation, is also offered. For children ages 3-6, Future Stars also offers a Little Stars camp where younger children can learn to play tennis and a field sport. All camps include swimming or time at the water park.

Ivy League Day Camp
Ivy League Day Camp is located on 16 acres in Smithtown. There are so many activities to choose from each day that children will never be bored. The campus includes 4 pools, including one kiddie pool, a rock wall, a zip line, and a ropes course. For younger campers, there are swings, a life-size Lego land, a sandbox, and playhouses. Every day there are new activities to choose from, including the ever present camp staple of arts & crafts. At Ivy League Day Camp they have additional arts & crafts programs that you won’t see at most camps, including leatherworking, woodworking and ceramics. For older children, Ivy League offers a teen travel program where teens go to a different location every day. Ivy League offers programs for children from ages 2 ½ to 13+. Door-to-door transportation and buffet lunch is included for all campers. For working parents, extended hours are offered from 7 am until 6 pm.|

Sea Explorers Marine Camp
Held at the Sport Fishing Education Center in Babylon, Sea Explorers Marine Camp allows campers to learn about the animals living in the local oceans, bays, and salt marshes. Children will be able to see and touch different animals in the touch tank, and they will also go out into the water to search for marine life. Campers will play beach games and do marine based arts and crafts. There are nine one-week sessions of camp. Sessions 1 and 9 are a special Shark Week theme for children ages 7-12. Shark Week includes a trip to Atlantis Marine World to look at sharks. Sessions 2-4 are for children ages 6-8 and sessions 5-8 are for children ages 9-12 and include a fishing trip at the end of the week.

Sea Stars Marine Camp
Located in Northport at Fuch’s Preserve Environmental Education Center, Sea Stars Marine Camp allows campers to discover more about the marine life on Long Island. The camp is a week-long with two days spent at a local beach or salt marsh where kids can get hands on experience with the animals, as well as enjoy swimming and beach games. The other three days of camp are spent learning about aquatic life, playing games, doing arts and crafts and other fun activities. There are seven one-week sessions of camp. All sessions, except for session 5, are appropriate for ages 6-8; sessions 6 and 7 have an additional camp for ages 11-13. For kids who are fascinated with sharks, session 5 is Shark Week and it is open to all children entering grades 3-7 in the fall. During Shark Week, children will travel to the beach and to Atlantis Marine World.

Suffolk County Farm and Education Center
The Suffolk County Farm and Education Center is a 100 year old farm where children can learn all about animal science, environmental science, and agriculture. Children will participate in hands on activities, including nature walks, bug collecting, and llama hikes. They will create nature themed arts and crafts and go on wagon rides. Six one-week sessions are offered for children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Children are divided up into different segments based on their ages.

Young People’s Day Camps of Suffolk County
The days at Young People’s Day Camps are chocked full of activity for children from ages 5 – 13+. Activities include swimming, sports, nature science, arts and crafts, martial arts, music, dance, and drama. There are a few offsite trips to the amusement park, the zoo, and the aquarium. Children are divided by age with activities targeted to their specific age range. The camp is held for eight weeks over the summer, and parents must sign up for a minimum of two weeks. A plus for many parents will be the door-to-door transportation that is included in the camp cost. The camp is held on the grounds of New York Institute of Technology in Islip.

The YMCA has been holding summer camps in New York since 1891, and in 2012 they are showing no signs of slowing down; they have recently added YMCA locations in Suffolk County and plan to add even more. Currently, there are five YMCA locations in Suffolk County, and they all offer summer camp programs for children aged 3-15. The camps offered include sports camps, performing arts camps, and teen travel camps. All camps include time for swimming in the YMCA pool.
