Cheap Winter Break Camps on Long Island

Many parents look for free and cheap camp alternatives for kids especially over the Winter February break and there are plenty of them on Long Island. We have rounded up a good selection of them for you to choose from and all are affordable and some are totally free. Check em out:
Shark Sleepover Party

This sleepover is an activity-filled overnight adventure. Kids will be able to take part in hands-on activities in the Shark Discovery Lab, take a nocturnal prowl through the Aquarium’s animal care areas, and sleep in the underwater viewing area with the sharks sleeping close by.  Dinner and snacks and breakfast will be served as well.

Hug-a-Bear Stuffing Workshop

For ages 4 and up with a caregiver. Kids can create their own furry friend at a hand-stuffing party thrown by Unique Stuffable Animals! Children will select a “pet”, stuff it, include a heart, and then dress it.

When: Saturday, February 25 at 2:00 P.M.

How Much: $10 materials fee per child.

 

Winter Break Walk-Ins a Darlings and Divas

Kids can make lip gloss, glitter tattoos, get a mini-manicure with nail design or crackle top coat, and sip pink lemonade or shirley temples! All for under $20

When: February 21 – 23 from 11-1 or 2-4 No reservations are required

Messy Afternoons  at the LICM

Get up to your elbows in goop, guts, shaving cream and play-doh. This activity  will offer a variety of sensory activities for children ages 18 months to age 4.

When: February 20–24 from 1–3 p.m.

Craft and Baking Camp at Cupcake Corner

Kids can make their own pizzas, decorate sugar cookies and cupcakes, make chocolate lollipops, decorate aprons, paint ceramic figurines and cupcake banks, dance, play games, and more. There will be a nutritional lunch and snack each day, and the day will end with a short movie. For children ages 4-12.

When: February 20- 26th 2012 from 10:00am-2:00pm

Crafts for Kids

Bring the kids to Cupcake Corner for a free craft every Saturday and Sunday!  The craft varies and  takes anywhere from 15-45 minutes to complete. Mamas can enjoy lunch offerings while your kids craft it up!

When: Saturday,February 18th-19th and 25th-26th 12:00pm-4:00pm

Pajama Story Time at the Floral Park Library

Children may come in pajamas for a fun evening of stories.  Just show up! No registration is required.

Extended Ice Skating Sessions

Many of Long Island’s skating rinks have extended winter break hours for kids who need to keep moving. for about $20 per day, you can feed and enterain your little one at one of them.

Ocean Explorers Camp at the Cold Spring Harbor Whalling Museum

This popular camp is an under-the-sea adventure. Discover a different ocean topic every day, play games, try experiments, and have fun with arts & crafts.

When: Tues, Feb 21 – Fri, Feb 24 from 10:00-1:00
