The Book Revue is more than just a place that sells books; it represents a cultural and social hub for the community. From toddlers to senior citizens, this beloved store just north of Main Street offers books, programs, and events for everyone.
Family owned since 1977, the Book Revue sells new, used, and discounted books. At 17,500 square feet, it is one of the largest independent bookstores in America. Though abundant in space, it still manages to foster a small-town feel.
Upon entering the bookstore, staff greets customers and offers to help. The excellent customer service makes the Book Revue stand out from the chains. This personal touch is the reason why parents who grew up with the Book Revue now bring their own kids to the store.
The indie bookstore’s strong reputation brings in distinguished authors and celebrities for readings. A wide range of appearances have graced the Book Revue, from best selling author Sue Grafton to President Bill Clinton. Celebrity children’s authors, such as Caroline Kennedy and Gold Medalist Kristi Yamaguchi, have also held book signings at the store.
In addition to an impressive selection of books for adults, the store carries a robust collection for children and teens. The kids section includes bright murals, creative sculptures, and a pint-size wood fire engine for little ones to play in.
Every Tuesday at 11 am the Book Revue hosts Toddler Time for story time, arts and crafts, and other interactive activities. Once a month guitarist Jeff Sorg plays music for the kids who are encouraged to sing and dance along.
