‘Tis the Season For Charitable Donations: Places to Donate Goods in Nassau and Suffolk

Aside from being about family, food and presents, the holidays are also about remembering those who are less fortunate. With the tax year ending in a few weeks, now’s the perfect time to donate all of our used clothes, toys, baby gear and other items we no longer need. We’ve put together a list of places that accept donated items:

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island

A truck will come to your doorstep and pick up for FREE gently used items including clothing, coats, shoes and small household items.

Dress for Success Brookhaven

This program helps disadvantaged women on Long Island to get ready to enter, or re-enter, the workforce by providing interview suiting, job coaching, educational and networking opportunities. They need new and gently used work appropriate clothing on hangers only, shoes and accessories. Call or see website for details.

Goodwill Industries International

Goodwill accepts new or gently used household items, electronics, clothing and furniture.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul

This organization accepts new and gently used clothing, furniture, vehicles and boats.

For clothing donations: Bring clothing to any of the Society’s Thrift Stores or drop them off in one of their clothing bins. For locations call (516) 822-3132 or visit website.

For furniture donations: To arrange for a pickup, call (516) 746-8250 in Nassau or (631) 858-0380 in Suffolk.

The Salvation Army

Neighbors Helping Neighbors Clothing Drives

Have a truck pick up your bags of items from your home or another location. Items accepted: clean, wearable clothing, shoes, handbags, linens, stuffed animals and small toys.
