Suffolk Santa Sightings in December: Where to Find Santa on Long Island!

‘Tis the season to see Santa!!!  The malls can be very crowded this time of year  and quite honestly can bore the kids.  Here are some fun events for you and the kids where you can be sure to spot Santa. The whole family will have a ball and spend some time with the big red guy!





Port Jefferson 6th Annual Dickens Festival

The Port Jefferson Dickens Festival is one event you and your family don’t want to miss.  The historic seaport Village of Port Jefferson, Long Island, New York will transform into a living Dickens stage. Families from across the Northeast will gather to celebrate the beloved author for the 16th Annual Village of Port Jefferson Charles Dickens Festival.

Dozens of activities are taking place throughout the Village over this magical weekend and the streets come alive with Scrooge, Chimney Sweeps, Father Christmas, reindeer viewing, old fashioned radio show and all sounds and performers of the era. Attractions include carriage rides, a visit down East Main Street’s Dickens’ Alley, the spectacular Crystal Ball and Grand Finale Parade.

Deepwells Holiday Boutique

The Art & Craft Holiday Boutique at Deepwells Farms on 25A in St. James will be held on two consecutive weekends. Thirty Artisans will be scattered throughout the decorated 1845 Greek revival style farmhouse featuring original art, stained and painted glass, jewelry, handmade soaps, candles, marionettes, dolls, floral arrangements, Christmas ornaments, holiday cards, and more. There will be strolling musicians, raffle baskets and across from Deepwells, pictures with Santa at the St. James General Store. (Bring your own camera.) “Wooden Wonderland: Carvers Show & Sale” –Suffolk County Historical Society

A fun holiday event at the SCHS from, featuring handmade carvings on display and for sale by more than a dozen local Long Island craftsmen, including Santas, Gnomes, Ornaments, Birds, Fish, and Duck Decoys – as well as live carving demonstrations.

The Polar Express and Tree Lighting

Annual Victorian Christmas

Start the holiday season at the museum farm. Featuring guided tours of a fully decorated 18th century homestead, costumed interpreters, antique toys, musicians, carriage rides, children’s activities and Santa Claus! Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for children (5 – 12 years) and seniors.

Tree Lighting

This event is a local favorite.  Many families make this tree lighting part of their annual Christmas tradition. The tree is beautifully decorated by our very own Suffolk County Girl Scouts. Join your friends and neighbors to bring in the holiday season with the lighting of our community tree.

Sip hot chocolate and sing a christmas carol which may entice Santa to stop by for a visit. Don’t forget your cameras!

Breakfast With Santa

What kid wouldn’t love to have breakfast with Santa?! This is one event we highly recommend. The Heritage Trust is proud to carry on the tradition of Breakfast with Santa on Sunday, December 11th at the Heritage Center inside North Shore Heritage park. This event will include a buffet breakfast complete with eggs, bacon, sausages, home fries, bagels, fresh fruit, juice, coffee and tea. A free family photo with Santa, and a gift for each child.  Please bring along a non-perishable food donation for the local food pantry.

Reservations are required, and seating is limited.  3 seatings: 8:00 am, 10:00 am, and noon. This event is filling up fast!  The 10:00am seating is already full. Call now to reserve your 8am or 12pm seats.  Please indicate second and third choice along with the number of highchairs you may need.

9th Annual Reenactment of the Flying Santa – Presented by Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society

Relive this historic event with the Lighthouse Keeper that was here over 50 years ago. Santa arrives at the Lighthouse. Great photo opportunity! Come early

Where: Fire Island Lighthouse – Burma Rd, Fire Island, NY

The Fire Island Lighthouse is located at the western end of the Fire Island National Seashore, just east of Robert Moses State Park. Take Robert Moses Causeway south to the end. At the Robert Moses water tower proceed east to Parking field #5. There is a parking fee at certain times of the year. Park on the east side of the parking field and follow the boardwalk right to the lighthouse.

Holiday Craft Show at Old Bethpage Village Restoration

The  Holiday Craft Show Is Held In Conjunction With The 169th Annual Candlelight Evenings. On Saturday December 10,  Santa Will Be In The Building For The Tree Lighting Ceremony.
