8 Independent Toy Stores on Long Island

Here at the Mamas Network, we recommend you buy as local as possible. One great way to do that is to buy from local independent toy stores. We chatted with Josh Muskin, a local area toy rep recently who told us, “These businesses are there for their community all year round — so while sales at the big box stores may be tempting, don’t forget the amazing customer service you’ll get at a local shop. Ask your local shopkeeper for toy recommendations – they know their products and will always know the perfect gift for a child!”

I live one town away from Matty’s in Rockville Center….. I always try to buy from local independently owned shops….. Unfortunately, the workers are very rude and the prices are extremely high!!! Fun Stuff Toys in Seaford is great!!!!!

You missed the BEST one in Plainview called MJ Beanz–the owners are fantastic with the latest in toys–you can call, tell them what you are looking for, in the price range and then they will have it wrapped and for you to pick up. Wrapping is free!!!!!

I love shopping at speciality shops. They have a passion that’s not found at Toys R Us and online retailers such as Amazon.
