Thanksgiving Volunteer Opportunities on Long Island

As we celebrate Thanksgiving and think of all that we have, lets take some time to remember those who do not.

Volunteering this Thanksgiving season is a wonderful way to show your gratitude.  Are you free to volunteer on Thanksgiving Day or do you wish to help out in advance? No matter what your criteria there is sure to be something for you. Here are a few of the volunteer opportunities on Long Island.

Thanksgiving, after all, is a word of action.

The mission of Operation Veronica is to convey to our brave men and women in uniform that they are missed, appreciated and prayed for. We strive to do this by offering them some relief from their physical discomfort caused by the weather and by sending items they may want or need.

We make neck coolers for when the temperatures in Iraq and Afghanistan reaches 135 degrees and then polar fleece neck warmers when the temperatures drop to below freezing. We also send survival bracelets to be unraveled and used in any emergency.
They are in need of granola bars, chips, instant soup, non-perishable items. Toiletries, Wind Burn protection, lip balm, baby wipes, socks, towels, pillows, scarves.

***Also in need of gently used children’s clothes, warm blankets. ****

Donations are greatly appreciated. Any questions about items please call (631) 821-1800
