Show Review: Jack and the Beanstalk at the NYCB Theater at Westbury

We recently attended a production of Jack and the Beanstalk at the NYCB Theater at Westbury. One of the stories told during the Children’s summer series, this familiar story of a lad exchanging his family’s cow for magic beans was an interactive experience for the audience, which was mostly made up of camp children ages 3-10.  On two occasions in the play, actors entered the audience using the aisles during the chase scenes.Told in two acts, we had so much fun at this show. The audience was asked to sing a lullaby to put the giant to sleep so Jack could escape with the hen and harp. My 4 and 5 year old children enjoyed interacting with the actors and singing along with the audience.

Once Jack cut down the beanstalk while the giant was climbing down, Jack saved the day and got back the castle that was stolen from his family by the giant.  This was a cute musical production with an opportunity to take photos with the actors on the way out.

There are still 3 stories left in the Children’s Summer Series:

Sleeping beauty 8/9

Peter Pan 8/16

Alice in Wonderland 8/23

Tickets are still available.
