Things to Do On Long Island This Weekend

Holiday weekends sure can take a lot of out you! The planning, the shopping, the traveling…whew! Here’s a list of cultural things to do this weekend. Don’t worry, no preparation needed! Listings are in alphabetical order by town.

Nassau

Bellmore, Long Island International Film Expo, Bellmore Movies, 222 Petit Ave., Bellmore, 516-783-3199. Short and feature length films, screened and panel discussed. Fee:$10, $8 senior, $20 Day pass and $65 Gold Pass. July 8-14.

Bethpage, Civil War Living History, Old Bethapage Restoration, Round Swamp Rd, Old Bethpage, 516-572-8400. Reenactments, period clothing, military drills, musket firings, camp life duties. Fee $10, $7 ages 5-12 and older than 60.  July 9-10, 10-5 PM.

Franklin Square, “Plattduetsche Volkfest“, Plattduetsche Park Restaurant, 1132 Hempstead Tpke., Franklin Square, 516-354-3131. Live music, Bavarian dancing, activities for children , German food, beer and games. Fee: $7. July 9, 12:00 PM and July 10, 11 AM.

Long Beach, St. Mary’s International Street Fair, Monroe Blvd and East Park Ave, Long Beach, 516-432-0157. World foods, children’s activities, rides, and games. July 7-10, 5:30-11 PM

Oyster Bay, Italian American Citizens Club Italian Fest, Oyster Bay LIRR station parking lot, Oyster Bay, 631-499-6824. Rides, food, games, Free admission, pay one price rides. July 6-8, 6-11 PM, July 9, 5-11 PM, and July 10, 5-10PM.

Westbury, NYCB Theatre at Westbury, 516-247-5200, “Snow White”, $23 per ticket, July 12, 11 AM.

Suffolk

Babylon, Sunset Concert Series, Overlook Beach, “Beginnings” – Chicago Tribute Band, July 8, 7:30PM.

Bridgehampton, ARThamptons, Sayre Park,  between the Bridgehampton Commons Mall & the Hampton Classic Horse field on Snake Hollow Rd., Bridgehampton, 631-283-5505. Art fair, featuring over 50 galleries. Fee:$20.  July 8-9, 11-7 PM and July  10, 11-6 PM.

Selden, Long Island Shakespeare Festival:King Henry V., Suffolk Community College, Ammerman Campus, 533 College Road., Selden 631-451-4163.  July 8-9, 7 PM and July 10, 2 PM.

Southampton, Hamptons Greek Festival. Greek Orthodox Church of the Hamptons, 111 St. Andrew’s Rd., Southampton, 631-283-6169. Live music, Hellenic youth dance troupe, crafts, children’s activities, food. July 7-9, 4-11 PM and July 10, 12-9 PM.
